Our History

Since opening its doors in 1933, Eagle Lake Country Market has been a beloved fixture in the community. From its beginnings as a local store, it has grown and evolved while maintaining a commitment to quality and service. Today, it remains a cherished destination for exceptional products and community connection.

Our History

1935

Eagle Lake General Store opens its doors

In 1935, Lewis Pritchard founded Eagle Lake General Store, combining a general store, post office, and gas station. The store, initially run by proprietor Don Harth, and then Olga Pritchard for several years, sold a variety of goods including food, hardware, and horse collars.

1940's

40's Era Ownership

In 1947, Mr. Horsley sold the store to Walter and Margaret Besse along with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Fisher. Eventually the Besse's bought out the Fisher's and operated the business until 1968.

1968

Allan and Ellenor Bagg Take Over

In 1968, Walter and Margaret Besse sold the store to Allan and Ellenor Bagg, who moved to the area, from Woodbridge, with their 4 young children.

1984

Expanding the Building

In 1984, a large 60' x 40' Addition was added to the original building by Allan and Ellenor Bagg and operated under the name Eagle Lake Food Town.

2004 to 2024

The Store Today

In 2004, Allan and Ellenor Bagg retired, and the business was purchased by their daughter Nancy, who owns and operates it to this day.
